Ventriloquist Conventions and Luxury RV Parks On The Itinerary This Summer

Jim Barber & Melonie Hit the Road for the 50th Annual Vent Haven International Ventriloquist Convention

This July, Melonie and I will be climbing aboard our 44-foot Newell Motorcoach, “The Barber Bus,” and heading out on an exciting summer adventure that will take us through Eastern Tennessee, Northern Kentucky, Central Indiana, and the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota before returning home to Branson, Missouri.

One of the highlights of our journey will be participating in the historic 50th Annual Vent Haven International Ventriloquist Convention, held July 15-18 in Erlanger, Kentucky. Widely recognized as the world’s premier gathering of ventriloquists, Vent Haven brings together performers, educators, collectors, and fans from around the globe to celebrate the art of ventriloquism and the legacy of the famous Vent Haven Museum. This golden anniversary promises to be one of the largest and most exciting conventions in the event’s history, featuring legendary performers, educational workshops, special presentations, and unforgettable evening shows.

For me, Vent Haven is much more than a convention. It is a reunion with friends who have dedicated their lives to making audiences laugh, inspiring future generations of performers, and preserving an art form that has brought joy to millions. This year’s celebration features an incredible lineup including Darci Lynne Farmer, Jeff Dunham, Willie Tyler, Jay Johnson, Taylor Mason, Max Fulham, Lynn Trefzger, Dan Horn, Don Bryan, Jack Williams, Megan Piphus, and many other talented artists from around the world.

I am especially honored to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Thursday Night Bash featuring Jack Williams, Lynn Trefzger, and Taylor Mason. Having the opportunity to share the stage with friends and fellow performers whom I have admired for years is one of the great privileges of my career. The ventriloquism community is truly unique. Whether you are a seasoned professional, an aspiring performer, or simply someone who enjoys family-friendly entertainment, Vent Haven represents the very best of comedy, creativity, and lifelong friendships.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Following Vent Haven, I’ll continue north to Spencer, Indiana, where I will be featured in VentFest 2026, one of the nation’s premier ventriloquism festivals. This exciting event showcases some of the most respected names in the industry, including Ronn Lucas, Willie Tyler, Jay Johnson, Don Bryan, David Crone, Ken Groves, Tansy Davis, and Bob Abdou. VentFest has quickly become a must-see destination for comedy lovers, ventriloquists, and fans of live family entertainment.

After VentFest, Melonie and I are excited to point The Barber Bus west toward the majestic Black Hills of South Dakota, where we’ll be presenting our full comedy and music variety show at two of the finest RV resorts in the region. On Friday, July 31st at 7:00 PM, we’ll perform at Heart Ranch RV Resort near Rapid City. Then on Thursday, August 6th at 2:00 PM, we’ll bring the laughter to Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort in Spearfish.

These special appearances allow us to combine three things we love—travel, RV life, and live entertainment. Our family-friendly show features comedy ventriloquism, music, audience participation, and many of the characters audiences have enjoyed throughout our years performing in Branson theaters, on cruise ships, at corporate events, churches, theaters, and RV resorts across America. We are honored to bring our unique brand of entertainment to the wonderful RV communities that call the Black Hills home during the summer months.

Since Jim was born and raised in Rapid City, SD, the Black Hills are one of our favorite destinations in the country. From Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park to the historic communities of Deadwood and Spearfish, the region offers incredible scenery, rich history, and some of the nicest RV resorts anywhere in America. We look forward to meeting travelers from across North America and sharing evenings filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable memories.

As Melonie and I travel aboard The Barber Bus, we’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes stories, road adventures, and highlights from these remarkable events on our BarberBus YouTube Channel. We’ll take viewers inside the world of professional ventriloquism while introducing them to some of the most talented performers in the business and showcasing the beauty of America’s highways and destinations.

After our summer tour concludes, we’ll return to Branson where I’ll resume my regular appearances in the Jim Barber & Friends segments of the Comedy Bash Dinner Show at the Shepherd of the Hills Attraction. It’s always exciting to travel, but there is no place quite like home and the wonderful audiences we enjoy entertaining in the Ozarks.

If you’re a fan of ventriloquism, family-friendly comedy, variety entertainment, RV lifestyle travel, or live comedy shows, this summer is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons we’ve experienced in years. We hope you’ll follow along as we celebrate 50 years of laughter, friendship, and the timeless art of bringing characters to life while sharing our adventures from the road aboard The Barber Bus.

After five memorable years on the air, “The Barber Shop with Jim Barber” will broadcast its final episode on Friday, May 15, 2026, on Branson4U (98.1 FM and online at Branson4U.com).

Hosted by internationally touring entertainer and ventriloquist Jim Barber, the weekday program (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Central) has been a trusted source for arts, entertainment, and classic hits music in the Branson area.

Originally launched as a platform to promote arts and entertainment in Branson, the show grew into a beloved community voice—highlighting local performers, organizations, and events while building lasting relationships with the staff, management, and ownership of the Ozarks Dynacom family of radio stations.

In November 2025, the program entered an exciting new chapter when Jim and his wife, Melonie Barber, took the show mobile. Producing from their 44-foot Newell motorcoach—“The Barber Bus”—the couple began traveling the country, performing at RV resorts and theaters while continuing to share Branson’s story nationwide.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take ‘The Barber Shop’ on the road,” said Jim Barber. “It has meant so much to us to promote both the station and the community of Branson at each and every one of our comedy ventriloquism performances. The support we’ve received along the way has been truly unforgettable.”

Ozarks Dynacom Executive Team Leader Steve Willoughby added, “A true Professional. We can’t thank Jim enough for his amazing work and contribution to Branson4u. We are honored to have him on the team – he will always be a part of our story.”

After five full years of daily broadcasts, Jim and Melonie are entering a new season in their lives and careers. Their focus will now shift toward expanded touring and documenting their adventures through their YouTube channel, “The Barber Bus,” as well as their official website at BarberBus.org.

Throughout its run, “The Barber Shop” has served as a meaningful platform for community connection—supporting area non-profits such as Branson Regional Arts Council, Junior Auxiliary of Taney County, Salvation Army, Neighbors & Friends of Table Rock Lake and Ozark Mountain Legacy, while featuring interviews with both national and local entertainers who contribute to Branson’s vibrant entertainment scene.

The show will continue airing weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Central through its final broadcast, this Friday, May 15, which takes place live in the Branson4U studio and will include special surprise guest appearances throughout the four-hour program.

Although the radio show is concluding, Jim Barber remains active in the Branson entertainment community. He will continue performing in the Comedy Bash Dinner Show at Shepherd of the Hills, serve as host of “Living Legacies of the Ozarks” on The Vacation Channel, and co-host “The Barber Bus” YouTube channel alongside Melonie.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from The Barber Bus

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the Barbers!

As we celebrate the joy of Christmas and look ahead to a brand-new year, Melonie and I want to take a moment to say “thank you” to each of you who have been part of our journey.

2025 has been an unforgettable year of growth, laughter, and gratitude.

Jim has been blessed to continue sharing the stage with the legendary Yakov Smirnoff, bringing clean comedy and ventriloquism to audiences who remind us night after night how powerful laughter truly is.

Unfortunately I will not be able to perform in Yakov’s production in 2026 due to our touring schedule, but I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of his hilarious and patriotic show over the past two years.

Every performance in Branson and across the country has been a gift, and we’re thankful for presenters, venues, and fans everywhere who made this year so special.

This year also marked an exciting new chapter for The Barber Shop radio show on 98.1fm Branson4U.com. In November, the show officially went mobile—broadcasting from The Barber Bus and hitting the road in a whole new way. What began as a studio radio program has now become a rolling connection point with listeners nationwide.

Today, we’re thrilled to be touring resorts, theaters, and churches across the country from our 44-foot Newell Motorcoach, sharing laughter, encouragement, and great conversations wherever the road leads.

As we reflect on this past year, our hearts are full of gratitude for your support, prayers, and friendship. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

From our family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas, a joyful holiday season, and a blessed 2026 ahead. May the coming year be filled with faith, laughter, good health, and new opportunities.

With sincere thanks and warmest wishes,
Jim & Melonie Barber 🎄✨

Jim Barber Takes “The Barber Shop” Radio Show On The Road Full Time

Jim Barber Takes “The Barber Shop” On The Road — November 3 Launches Cross-Country Tour from Branson

October 29, 2025 – Branson, Missouri

Longtime Branson entertainer, ventriloquist and radio personality Jim Barber is launching a bold new chapter: beginning Monday, November 3, 2025, his weekday radio show, The Barber Shop (weekdays 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Central on 98.1 FM in Branson and streaming online at Branson4u.com) will be taken “on the road” aboard a 44-foot diesel motorhome, dubbed the “Barber Bus.”

Jim and his wife, Melonie, will travel the country, producing the show from their fully restored 1993 Newell Coach at a variety of locations including RV resorts, theatres, churches and other venues, while simultaneously presenting Jim’s award-winning comedy production, Jim Barber & Friends. Melonie adds her special blend of vocal music and on occasion, her well known “Harmony Trio” will also join the performance schedule with special guests Babette Fogle and Aloha Post. Their mission: bring the Branson-style variety entertainment experience to new audiences across the nation — and spotlight Branson as a must-see destination for those audiences.

The couple consider themselves deeply blessed to be part of a beautifully blended family, a journey born out of both heartache and hope. A little over a decade ago, Jim faced the profound loss of being widowed, while Melonie navigated the challenges of divorce. “When our paths crossed and we married during the pandemic of 2020, our lives – and hearts – expanded in ways we never could have imagined,” said Jim. Joining Jim’s daughter with Melonie’s eight children formed an extended family of eleven members. “Now, as grateful empty-nesters, we look back with wonder at how God’s blessings and love can heal, rebuild, and create something entirely new,” added Melonie. “We look forward with excitement to the fresh possibilities this next season of life holds for us!”

Road-show format & live entertainment

Starting Monday, November 3rd, “The Barber Shop” will be produced from the Barber Bus at select locations each week. While the radio show airs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central, Jim and Melonie will then present a live evening show, “Jim Barber & Friends,” in regional theatres, RV resort venues or church-campus settings. Their first stop will be at the famed “Magic Attic Theatre” in Tulsa, Oklahoma for three shows on November 7-8. From there they will head to engagements in South Dakota, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Indiana and Kentucky. They currently have show bookings extending into 2027, but plan to include some 2026 Branson dates in the mix.

If that wasn’t enough to keep them busy, the couple have also created a new YouTube Channel to promote their RV adventures, and invite everyone to subscribe to watch “The Barber Bus” at https://www.youtube.com/@TheBarberBus online.

The coupling of multimedia broadcast and live performance creates a unique experience: local audiences get a behind-the-scenes look at the show, and the online streaming capability of the Ozarks Dynacom family of radio stations plus the couple’s YouTube Channel, introduces Branson’s entertainment brand to untapped markets.

Listeners and fans everywhere can still tune in to the radio show via the free Branson4U app (available at the Apple Store, Google Play and Amazon Alexa) or stream online at Branson4u.com. While on the road, the show will invite fans from the host city to come out in person for the evening comedy/ventriloquism show, and will use the broadcast to promote the host city venue, the Barber Bus tour stop and Branson as the entertainment hub.

Stay connected on the go by downloading the free Branson4u mobile app, available for all major devices. No matter where Jim goes, you can go with him.

Why Branson matters — and why this tour matters

Jim’s deep roots in Branson provide the foundation for this venture. Since arriving in Branson in 1994, Jim has shared the stage with top Branson-area stars including Glen Campbell, Eddie Rabbitt, The Osmonds, Tony Orlando, and many others, including a 10 year run with the Hamner Barber Variety Show.  Currently he appears as the featured comedian/impressionist in the Yakov Smirnoff Variety Show in Branson.

Beyond the stage, Jim has served in leadership roles in the Branson arts community. From April 2017 through September 2024 he was Executive Director of the Branson Regional Arts Council, guiding the acquisition and restoration of the Historic Owen Theatre in downtown Branson — providing a dedicated home for community theatre and youth arts education.

With this track record, Jim brings more than just a show — he brings decades of entertainment, multimedia and marketing experience to this tour initiative.

What the Barber Bus means

Jim and Melonie’s purchase of the 44-foot diesel motorhome (the “Barber Bus”) marks a major step in making their vision mobile. The bus allows them to travel efficiently from market to market, integrate with RV resorts and theatre venues, and set up a “pop-up” Branson-style experience wherever they go nationwide.

This fully-mobile format will help the Barber brand reach new audiences who may not yet know Branson’s entertainment scene, while simultaneously promoting the Branson destination — a win-win for Jim’s show, the venues visited, and the Branson tourism brand.

Invitation to partners and audiences

Jim and Melonie invite RV resorts, theatres and other venues across the United States to contact them about hosting their live comedy show at or near your location. They are also excited to share their testimony with church groups and marriage encounter events through music, comedy and a positive message of Faith with their “Blessed to be Blended” presentations. By hosting the event, venues gain live radio exposure, national stream-reach, plus a family friendly live comedy/ventriloquism/music show that appeals to a wide demographic.

They also invite radio show sponsors interested in participating in the campaign to contact Ozarks Dynacom for more information. Listeners everywhere can tune in to The Barber Shop, follow the tour, and download the Branson4U app to hear the show live — even when the Barber Bus is broadcasting on the road.
