The Barber Bus Is Going Full-Time: Our Nationwide Entertainment Journey Begins in January 2027

After more than three decades in the Branson area, Melonie and I are selling our home, moving aboard our 44-foot Newell motorcoach, and inviting RV resorts, motorcoach rallies, churches and theatres across America to become part of the journey.

Some new chapters begin by moving into a new home. Ours begins by letting one go.

Melonie and I have made one of the biggest and most exciting decisions of our lives: we are selling our home and, beginning in January 2027, will live and travel across the country full-time aboard our motorcoach, The Barber Bus.

It is exciting. It is a little intimidating. It is deeply personal. And we believe it is exactly where the next season of our lives is leading us.

Taking a Lifetime of Entertainment Experience on the Road

For more than three decades, the Branson area has been my home, my professional base and the setting for some of the most memorable years of my career. I have had the privilege of appearing in major Branson productions, working with remarkable entertainers, operating my own theatre and developing friendships that have become an important part of our lives.

Branson will always be part of who we are. We are not leaving that experience behind—we are putting it on wheels and taking it with us.

During our first seasons of travel aboard The Barber Bus, we discovered how naturally our love of RV life fits together with our love of performing. We have traveled to RV resorts, theatres and special events; met fascinating people; shared music and laughter with new audiences; and documented the adventures, surprises and occasional motorcoach mishaps on our YouTube channel.

Those experiences helped us realize that The Barber Bus could be much more than transportation. Our restored 1993 Newell Coach could become our home, our creative headquarters and the foundation for a truly mobile entertainment ministry and business. As we have often said, this chapter is not about slowing down. It is about leaning into creativity, service, relationships and the possibilities waiting around the next bend in the road.

Beginning in January 2027, we will no longer be taking extended trips and then returning to a permanent house. The Barber Bus will be home.

Bringing the Show Directly to Your Community

Full-time travel will give us the flexibility to develop regional routes, remain in an area longer and bring our show to communities that might otherwise be difficult to serve through traditional touring.

The centerpiece of those travels will continue to be Jim Barber & Friends, our clean, family-friendly comedy variety show featuring ventriloquism, music, celebrity impressions, audience participation and a cast of unforgettable characters—including my longtime singing sidekick, Seville.

Melonie brings her own special warmth and musical talent to the program, joining me in a show designed to entertain several generations together. It is polished enough for a professional theatre, personal enough for an intimate resort clubhouse and clean enough for families, churches and community organizations.

Audiences at previous RV resort appearances have called it “the best show we had all year” and “the best show they’ve seen in years.”

Our goal is not simply to arrive, perform and leave. We want to become part of the community for a few days—meeting the people, learning about the destination and helping create an experience guests will remember long after The Barber Bus pulls onto the highway again.

Our show offers resort activity directors and rally organizers an opportunity to bring residents and guests together for a shared evening of clean comedy, music and fun. Because we arrive aboard our own motorcoach, we are already immersed in the lifestyle of the audiences we entertain. That shared experience creates an immediate connection with RV and motorcoach audiences.

We also enjoy introducing viewers of The Barber Bus channel to the people, destinations and resorts we encounter. Our videos combine RV living, travel stories, resort experiences, family, faith, entertainment and behind-the-scenes moments from life as touring performers.

Churches and faith-based organizations will also be an important part of our travels.

In addition to the complete comedy and music show, Melonie and I enjoy sharing portions of our personal story through our Blessed to Be Blended presentation. Our journey has included loss, change, healing, a pandemic wedding and the joining together of a large blended family. Through it all, we have witnessed how faith, love and encouragement can help people rebuild their lives and embrace an unexpected new beginning.

That message can be incorporated into programs for church family nights, couples’ events, senior adult gatherings, community outreach programs and other special occasions. The presentation combines music, laughter and a positive message of faith without sacrificing the professional entertainment quality audiences expect.

My career has taken me from the Late Show with David Letterman and other national television programs to cruise ships, comedy clubs, corporate events, military tours, approximately 2,000 colleges and universities, and stages in every state and more than 24 countries. Since arriving in Branson in 1994, I have appeared with many of the entertainment industry’s most recognizable performers while developing a show that combines comedy, music, theatrical illusion and ventriloquism.

That experience allows us to bring venues more than an act. We understand the importance of promotion, production, hospitality, audience relationships and creating an event that reflects well on the presenter.

As our 2027 route develops, we hope to work with independent theatres, historic venues, performing arts organizations, tourism partners and community presenters that value professional, family-friendly entertainment.

Selling our home and stepping into full-time motorcoach living is not a small decision. We will be leaving behind familiar surroundings and many of the conveniences that come with a permanent address.

But we will also be gaining the freedom to go where we are invited, spend meaningful time with people across the country, remain closer to our extended family during different seasons and continue doing the work we believe we were created to do.

We are entering what we like to call the “third-third” of our lives, and we do not want to spend it merely looking back at what we have already accomplished. We want to keep learning, keep laughing, keep creating and keep encouraging others.

Beginning in January 2027, home will be wherever we park The Barber Bus.

HARRIMAN, Tenn. — Award-winning ventriloquist, comedian and vocalist Jim Barber will bring his nationally recognized blend of clean comedy, music, impressions and audience participation to Harriman’s historic Princess Theatre on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, for one performance only.

The Comedy of Jim Barber & Friends is an upbeat, family-friendly variety show created for children, parents, grandparents, couples, seniors, church groups and anyone looking for refreshingly clean live entertainment. The production combines Barber’s lightning-fast wit and extraordinary vocal range with musical comedy, celebrity impressions, surprising sound effects and a memorable cast of characters—including his hilarious six-foot singing sidekick, Seville. Jim’s wife and performing partner, Melonie Barber, also helps create the show’s warm, welcoming atmosphere.

“Some of the best memories are created when several generations can sit together, laugh together and leave feeling happier than when they arrived,” said Barber. “Melonie and I are excited to bring that kind of shared experience to Harriman and to welcome guests from Knoxville, Crossville and communities across East Tennessee.”

Barber has appeared on national television, including the Late Show with David Letterman, and has headlined major productions in Branson and Las Vegas. His career has also taken him aboard cruise ships around the world, to events across the country and overseas to entertain members of the United States military through the USO. His honors include International Ventriloquist of the Year, Comedy Entertainer of the Year and Showtime’s Funniest Person in Tennessee.

The Harriman performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience a polished, nationally traveled variety act close to home. Rather than relying on adult language or divisive material, Barber’s show delivers clever comedy, music, character-driven humor and audience interaction that guests of different ages can enjoy together.

The performance will also take place during a landmark season for the Princess Theatre. The beloved downtown venue originally opened in September 1926 and was later restored to its 1930s Art Deco grandeur as a performing-arts and education center. The theatre will celebrate its 100th anniversary with an official community event on Sept. 6, just eight days after Barber’s appearance.

“Performing at the Princess as this beautiful theatre celebrates a century of bringing people together makes the occasion especially meaningful,” Barber added. “We look forward to sharing a lot of laughter—and creating a few new Princess Theatre memories.”

This July, Melonie and I will be climbing aboard our 44-foot Newell Motorcoach, “The Barber Bus,” and heading out on an exciting summer adventure that will take us through Eastern Tennessee, Northern Kentucky, Central Indiana, and the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota before returning home to Branson, Missouri.

One of the highlights of our journey will be participating in the historic 50th Annual Vent Haven International Ventriloquist Convention, held July 15-18 in Erlanger, Kentucky. Widely recognized as the world’s premier gathering of ventriloquists, Vent Haven brings together performers, educators, collectors, and fans from around the globe to celebrate the art of ventriloquism and the legacy of the famous Vent Haven Museum. This golden anniversary promises to be one of the largest and most exciting conventions in the event’s history, featuring legendary performers, educational workshops, special presentations, and unforgettable evening shows.

For me, Vent Haven is much more than a convention. It is a reunion with friends who have dedicated their lives to making audiences laugh, inspiring future generations of performers, and preserving an art form that has brought joy to millions. This year’s celebration features an incredible lineup including Darci Lynne Farmer, Jeff Dunham, Willie Tyler, Jay Johnson, Taylor Mason, Max Fulham, Lynn Trefzger, Dan Horn, Don Bryan, Jack Williams, Megan Piphus, and many other talented artists from around the world.

I am especially honored to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Thursday Night Bash featuring Jack Williams, Lynn Trefzger, and Taylor Mason. Having the opportunity to share the stage with friends and fellow performers whom I have admired for years is one of the great privileges of my career. The ventriloquism community is truly unique. VentFest has quickly become a must-see destination for comedy lovers, ventriloquists, and fans of live family entertainment.

After VentFest, Melonie and I are excited to point The Barber Bus west toward the majestic Black Hills of South Dakota, where we’ll be presenting our full comedy and music variety show at two of the finest RV resorts in the region. On Friday, July 31st at 7:00 PM, we’ll perform at Heart Ranch RV Resort near Rapid City. Then on Thursday, August 6th at 2:00 PM, we’ll bring the laughter to Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort in Spearfish.

These special appearances allow us to combine three things we love—travel, RV life, and live entertainment. Our family-friendly show features comedy ventriloquism, music, audience participation, and many of the characters audiences have enjoyed throughout our years performing in Branson theaters, on cruise ships, at corporate events, churches, theaters, and RV resorts across America. After five memorable years on the air, “The Barber Shop with Jim Barber” will broadcast its final episode on Friday, May 15, 2026, on Branson4U (98.1 FM and online at Branson4U.com).

Hosted by internationally touring entertainer and ventriloquist Jim Barber, the weekday program (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Central) has been a trusted source for arts, entertainment, and classic hits music in the Branson area.

Originally launched as a platform to promote arts and entertainment in Branson, the show grew into a beloved community voice—highlighting local performers, organizations, and events while building lasting relationships with the staff, management, and ownership of the Ozarks Dynacom family of radio stations.

In November 2025, the program entered an exciting new chapter when Jim and his wife, Melonie Barber, took the show mobile. Producing from their 44-foot Newell motorcoach—“The Barber Bus”—the couple began traveling the country, performing at RV resorts and theaters while continuing to share Branson’s story nationwide.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take ‘The Barber Shop’ on the road,” said Jim Barber. “It has meant so much to us to promote both the station and the community of Branson at each and every one of our comedy ventriloquism performances. The support we’ve received along the way has been truly unforgettable.”

Throughout its run, “The Barber Shop” has served as a meaningful platform for community connection—supporting area non-profits such as Branson Regional Arts Council, Junior Auxiliary of Taney County, Salvation Army, Neighbors & Friends of Table Rock Lake and Ozark Mountain Legacy, while featuring interviews with both national and local entertainers who contribute to Branson’s vibrant entertainment scene.

The show will continue airing weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Central through its final broadcast, this Friday, May 15, which takes place live in the Branson4U studio and will include special surprise guest appearances throughout the four-hour program.

Although the radio show is concluding, Jim Barber remains active in the Branson entertainment community. The Arizona tour kicks off in Apache Junction with an evening performance at Countryside RV Resort, a welcoming RV community nestled near the foothills of the Superstition Mountains. A few days later, Jim and Melonie make the short drive to Shiprock RV Resort for an afternoon show. Also located in Apache Junction, Shiprock is a vibrant 55+ community featuring resort-style amenities such as a recreation hall with a stage, swimming pool and spa, fitness and game areas, and social activities — making it an ideal setting for residents to enjoy a fun, engaging live performance.

These two Arizona dates offer RV resort guests a chance to enjoy Jim Barber’s celebrated blend of comedy, music, and ventriloquism — all presented with his signature charm and storytelling. After these performances, the Barbers will return to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for a additional nine resort appearances before making their way back to Branson, Missouri.

Back to Branson for the “Comedy Bash”

Jim and Melonie travel in their fully-restored diesel motorcoach affectionately known as The Barber Bus, producing their own YouTube Channel, as well as Jim’s Branson based radio show called The Barber Shop (Weekdays from 9am-1pm Central – Branson4u.com) while bringing their stage show to communities across the country. Following the Arizona and RGV resort dates, they’ll settle back into Branson for several weeks of performances in The Branson Comedy Bash Dinner Show starting April 1st — part of The Shepherd of the Hills Attraction. This high-energy dinner theatre event mixes comedy, music, and variety to keep Branson audiences smiling throughout the season.
